HOW TO SEND MONEY

Simple,

Just go to your nearest BK Western Union Agent, fill in your details on a form provided and we will take care of the rest for you. With more than 41 Agent locations across Rwanda we are probably right around the corner in your neighborhood.

1. COMPLETE THE ‘TO SEND MONEY’ FORM

Give the Agent the amount of money that you want to send together with the necessary service fees.

You will be required to sign a receipt after you have verified all the details printed on the receipt are correct. The most important detail printed on the receipt is your Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

You are then required to contact the intended receiver of your money, and relay the necessary information to him/her such as the sender’s name, amount sent, MTCN, and the country the money was sent from. Do not disclose the MTCN to anyone other than your intended receiver.

• - Receiver’s full name.

• - Receiver’s valid identification

• - Password.

HOW TO RECEIVE MONEY

It is very easy to receive money through us. First, locate your nearest BK Western Union Agent in Rwanda, then make your way to the Agent location.

Sending and receiving funds

In order to send funds, a sender goes to a Western Union office and presents funds (plus fees) for "Money in Minutes" service. A sender provides his or her name and address, the recipient's name, and a designated payment destination.

Western Union then provides the sender a 10-digit Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) that must be transmitted separately by the sender to the recipient. The recipient then proceeds to a Western Union agent office in the designated payment location, presents the 10-digit MTCN and a photo ID. Money is then paid out to the recipient.

If a recipient lacks identification documents, the sender and receiver can set up a pre-arranged password.

Transfer fees

Sending fees are based on western union tariffs and receivers don’t pay any fees.

Western Union clarifies that funds are available for pick up within minutes, but are subject to Agent locations hours of operation.

Most of our branches are open from 8.00am to 7.00pm.

A currency exchange rate is applied to transactions paid in Rwandan Francs. Western Union can also convert dollars into francs on request.
